Elecsys Prolactin II Assay helping to identify fertility disorders

Prolactin promotes the development and differentiation of the mammary gland. It is synthesized in the anterior pituitary and is secreted in episodes. Hyperprolactinemia is the main cause of fertility disorders in both men and women. Measurement of prolactin is used clinically in the diagnosis of anovular cycles, hyperprolactinemic amenorrhea and galactorrhea, gynecomastia and azoo-spermia, and is also determined when breast cancer or pituitary tumors are suspected.
